· Software/Tool Papers: Descriptions of new statistical software or computational tools (3000–6000 words)
2. Mandatory Template Use
All submissions must use our official Microsoft Word template. This ensures consistency and streamlines the publication process.
Download: AllStats_Manuscript_Template.docx
Why use the template?
· Pre-formatted styles for headings, equations, and references
· Correct citation numbering format
· Proper placement for figures and tables
· Consistent formatting for production
3. Manuscript Structure & Formatting Requirements
A. Required Sections (in order)
1. Title Page: Title with author affiliations and corresponding author email
2. Abstract & Keywords: Single paragraph (250–300 words), 4–6 keywords
3. Introduction
4. Methods (with subheadings as needed)
5. Results
6. Discussion
7. Conclusion
8. Author Contributions
9. References
10. Tables & Figures (on separate pages at end)
B. Formatting Specifications
· File Format: .docx (Microsoft Word)
· Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt for body text
· Line Spacing: 1.5 lines throughout
· Margins: 2.54 cm (1 inch) all sides
· Page Numbers: Bottom right corner
· Equations: Numbered sequentially (Eq. 1, Eq. 2), center-aligned
· Statistical Notation: Use standard symbols (e.g., *p*-values, *t*-tests, χ²)
C. Citation Style – NUMBERED FORMAT
AllStats uses numbered citations in square brackets:
· Single citation: [1]
· Multiple citations: [2, 4, 7]
· Citation in context: "as shown by Smith [1]"
· Do not use author-year format (e.g., Smith, 2022)
References are listed numerically in the order they appear in text, not alphabetically.
4. Statistical Reporting Standards
A. Essential Elements for All Statistical Analyses
· Description of Methods: Clearly state all statistical methods used
· Software: Name, version, and developer (e.g., "R version 4.3.1, R Foundation")
· Assumption Checks: Report tests for normality, homogeneity, etc.
· Effect Sizes: Include where appropriate (Cohen's *d*, η², odds ratios, etc.)
· Confidence Intervals: 95% CIs for key estimates
· Precision: Report exact *p*-values (e.g., *p* = 0.023, not *p* < 0.05)
· Code Availability: Share analysis code via repository when possible
B. Specific Requirements by Analysis Type
· Regression Models: Report coefficients, standard errors, R²
· ANOVA/MANOVA: Include sums of squares, degrees of freedom, F-values
· Bayesian Analyses: Specify priors, convergence diagnostics, posterior summaries
· Machine Learning: Training/test splits, cross-validation, performance metrics
· Power Analysis: Report power calculations for sample size determination
5. Data & Code Availability
AllStats promotes reproducible research:
A. Data Sharing
· Where ethically permissible, data should be publicly available
· Recommended repositories: Figshare, Zenodo, Dryad, or domain-specific repositories
· Include Data Availability Statement in manuscript
· Provide DOI or persistent URL for datasets
B. Code Sharing
· Statistical analysis code should be shared
· Platforms: GitHub, GitLab, or supplementary materials
· Include README with installation/usage instructions
· Use open-source languages (R, Python, Julia) when possible
6. Figures & Tables Guidelines
A. Figures
· Format: .tiff, .eps, or .pdf for line art; .jpg or .png for photographs
· Resolution: Minimum 300 DPI
· Statistical Graphs: Include error bars, significance indicators, clear axis labels
· Color: Accessible color schemes (colorblind-friendly)
· Legends: Self-explanatory, placed below figure
B. Tables
· Use Word's table tool (no images of tables)
· Include descriptive title above table
· Define all abbreviations in footnotes
· Report summary statistics (mean ± SD, median [IQR], etc.)
7. Ethical Requirements
A. Research Ethics
· For human/animal studies: Ethics committee approval number and date
· Compliance with Declaration of Helsinki (biomedical) or equivalent
· Informed consent statements where applicable
B. Statistical Ethics
· No *p*-hacking, data dredging, or selective reporting
· Report all analyses conducted, not just significant results
· Disclose any data transformations or exclusions
· Acknowledge limitations honestly
